4 Girls and a herd of sheep! Only way to describe the time we spent here on Grasshopper Island. Thank you so much TJ for having us as your guests. The highlight of our trip included kayaking, hiking, s'mores, star gazing, badminton, volleyball, checkers, Taboo, Monopoly, stories by the campfire, and of course the bond we shared with the sheep!
We'll definitely be back with more food to feed the sheep and hopefully see the chickens and pigs. We learned how to BBQ, kayak, and start a campfire all in under two days (with a little bit of help from the guys to help kick start the grill). This was the perfect way to start our summer.

What a time it has been out on this wonderful island. How exciting to have the “bah” of the sheep wake you up! ( In a good way). Sitting in front of our very own personal fire- the blaze rising high – singing along with the guitar and indulging in smores was great. It was fabulous to be able to relax and simply take in the sounds and smell of nature. We will be back!

Trudy Jo, you have done an amazing job with the island – I love your forward thinking, you are tomorrow today. The sempiternal gifts we take home give reason to pause with gratitude for the beauty of our country.
Thank you Trudy Jo for the wonderful experience at the eco-loft. It was one of the most memorable weekends. The view, the stars, the water, the fish, the sheep, its all perfect. Thanks for the wonderful weekend.

Island Spirits was the best vacation we have ever taken! We came to relax and have fun! We got to do plenty of both! We stayed in the log cabin and it was beautiful and comfortable. We spent our days down at the lake, fishing, canoeing & kayaking! Many firsts for us and our children. We went to the island to visit for the day, we had such a great time on Grasshopper Island that we went back a second day! The island has lots of hiking trails, animals and great swimming spots! Remember to take compost for the piggies! Give the goats a snuggle and some leaves (they love them!) TJ we had an amazing time, enjoyed everything Island Spirits has to offer. Thank you for everything! We hope to see you again next summer!

We have all had a wonderful time. So great to relax and enjoy the simple things – a swim, a play, a canoe, a conversation with the sheep, it's also been so lovely to see our kids get grubby, breathe the fresh air and wonder at the caterpillars. I enjoyed the quality “me time” under your fabulous solar shower too!

What a wonderful (oil) painting location!

Thank you for providing us such a peaceful, quiet location from the busy life of Toronto. Amazing! This spot provides, what we really need: peacefulness, just with ourselves, tranquillity, wilderness, total rest from civilization! Tons of walking, fishing, sitting at the fire, long conversations, communication with the family. I am so glad that in this world we can still find such a place we can be totally alone with nature. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Bravo for thinking this way!!! We will definitely be back in the near future!

Words can’t describe how happy I am that we stumbled upon you (Island Spirits, Rice Lake) at the GREEN LIVING SHOW. We weren’t really looking for anything in particular, just a bunch of people with a love for the planet and a whole lot of interesting ideas. But then out of pure luck we found you, with your love of the earth and your island of opportunity, when I think about it now you also found us. You opened up your world and shared with us something that NO Caribbean cruise or Hawaiian beach could ever offer. And now all that’s left to say is Thank You. Thank You for slowing us down from the fast moving reality of T.O. and allowing us to embrace the true beauties of nature and family.
These past 10 days have been full of memories, with a new board game every night and full-filled days with ‘capture the life jacket’ and ‘hide and go seek team tag’ in the dark and delicious home-cooked meals like gourmet fish ‘n’ chips, homemade pizza, grilled cheese, baked potatoes, pancakes and delicious scones straight from the BREAD OVEN.
Lest we forget our kayaking adventures, our amazing time jumping off GOLDEN GAL and all the time dedicated to the animals who love us as much as we love them and our favourite chicken who has grown so close to us and become part of the family.
The cabin was above and beyond our expectation of a log cabin and had its own eco – friendly traits and cozy family atmosphere we loved being in it. Going home is the hardest part, but we’ll never forget the memories and the home we have here.
